I’m a Southern California-based photographer, who is dedicated to the documentation of natural, undisturbed scenes, the surrounding, bustling life, and the ever-changing geometry of light and shadow. My style incorporates the Cubists' compositional awareness, the spatial depth in Eugene Atget's storefront windows, and Rene Magritte's need to force interaction between the artist and the world--- in view, and of vision. I often use glass as a vehicle to record reflections and shadows as design, blend textures, discontinue and imply line, as well as create layers within the frame, without Photoshop manipulation. I incorporate this, in my architectural abstractions, foregoing the use of double exposure.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
In general, it is curiosity that drives my inspiration. It’s the beautiful compulsion— the need, to see how a scene can be framed. Atget looked at his photos as “documents” of Paris, but in doing so, sparked Photographic Surrealism. His storefront windows will always inspire me. I feel a kinship with him, as an artist.
Glass is the catalyst. Even though it’s static, it still can provide various elements to the photo. I try to move around, as much as I can, to record the angle that I’m looking for.
